Modern day slaves, no chains, institutionalised Singer Fionn Reilly charges out the gates with powerful lyrics about racism in today’s world: The song opens with a chugging bass riff accompanied by a driving drum groove. “The Birth of a Nation,” Enola Gay’s first single dropped on June 17 via Facebook. In this new, concert-less world, Enola Gay managed to capture the attention of many through their mighty music.

Then came the pandemic, derailing the newly-formed band’s plans. Songs were recorded and five gigs were played, the third of which was their first headlining show. The band quickly got to recording music, taking inspiration from guitar-oriented bands such as IDLES, Fontaines D.C., and their beloved favorite, Girl Band. After recording a demo, they passed it onto Just Mustard, earning Enola Gay their second ever gig as their opener on December 11, 2019. COVID-19 has slowed down plans for this fresh four-piece band, but there is a lot to look forward to in 2021.Įnola Gay established themselves in late 2019, following jam sessions between guitarist Joe McVeigh and singer Fionn Reilly.

With only a single and a remix released and six gigs under their belt, Belfast post-punk/noise rock band Enola Gay have demonstrated enough passion, intelligence, and virtuosity to create a thunderous music career.
